Don't you love how predictable Democrats can be? "It’s getting harder for kids to buy tobacco in California, but Santa Clara County and San Jose want to make it even more difficult.
Tuesday night, the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors will vote on legislation that would create a tobacco retail permit for unincorporated areas of the county. The 33 retailers that sell tobacco in those parts of the county would be required to fill out an application, pay an application fee and pay an annual fee to renew the permit each year.
Tobacco retailers would pay $340 for a one-time application fee and an annual $425 fee in years to come."
There is good news--we now have Prop.26--which means these money grubbing Democrats can only do this with a 2/3 vote of the people--and I doubt if that will happen. That means the Democrats will be forced to actually cut spending--something they know very little about.
Note the article makes no mention of the new law--which the people demanded.
