  • Inglewood: next city to go Bankrupt?

Inglewood is a poor city with a population of about 112,000. Earlier this year the Mayor pleaded guilty to public corruption. This city is as poorly run as San Diego or Los Angeles.

"The city of Inglewood is a small city directly west of South Los Angeles. For over ten decades the city has managed to establish and operate a budget that is both acceptable to the public and executable for administration. In recent months, however, Inglewood has been unable to implement a budget that is acceptable to residents and employees because of a nearly $18 million dollar deficit that is bringing about layoffs, forced early retirement, and reduced services."

Now, the $18 million deficit will cause a reorganization of the government.

"According to such statement , the current deficit was partially caused by salary and spending increases along with miscalculations. The city was apparently illustrating financial irresponsibility by spending more money than it had in recent years. Such irresponsibility has inevitably led to a large amount of debt that Inglewood cannot pay without severe cuts."

While this is written about Inglewood, almost every city in California is in the same shape and for the same reasons.
