  • Politicians Rip Off San Diego of $6 Billion--in Secret

The Mayor of San Diego is a liar and a cheat--and he admitted that.

"If too many people knew about the late-minute state deal to extend the life of downtown redevelopment, then it could have fallen apart, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders said in a radio interview that aired this morning.

That's why Sanders, local state Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher and officials from the city's downtown redevelopment agency kept City Council, San Diego County, other lawmakers and the public in the dark in their pursuit of legislation that eliminates limits on downtown redevelopment."

This is pure corruption--they added $6 billion to the redevelopment agency fund in secret, not telling other elected officials they were doing this, for fear they would be opposed.

Stealing $6 billion is a big deal.

The folks involved with this need to apologize and give the money back. Oh, hundreds of millions of this money could be used to build a stadium for billionaires--who prefer using tax dollars to their dollars for their projects. Also, the city KEPT the ability to steal private property (called eminent domain) and give it to billionaires who donated to their campaigns.

This is why we need to defeat Prop.22--if passed cities will continue to be able to steal money and private property from honest citizens).

What do you think? Does the public have the right to know and discuss the use of $6 billion?
