  • San Diego to take Away MORE Union Benefits

Unions lost elections in Rialto, Chula Vista and Vallejo. Yesterday the Guv announced four new union contracts with an average 5% pay cut and 5% added employee contributions to CalPers.

Now in San Diego, a union program is going to be cut back.

"The City Council voted today to shut off a contested retirement perk granted to some city employees, but consensus by a majority of members of the San Diego City Employees' Retirement System is required before the change could take effect.

The Deferred Retirement Option Program, or DROP, allows eligible retirement-age municipal employees to continue to work for the city and collect a paycheck for five years, while monthly pension payments are funneled into an investment account.

Critics argue DROP amounts to double-dipping, as participants are collecting their pension and a salary at the same time."

Thanks to the recession, AB 32 Arnolds' higher taxes and unions, government is taking back the premiums paid to union bribe payers.

Is this the tip of the iceberg? Are unions on the ropes? In LAUSD the non teaching union had 7100 member last year, 5600 this year and will have 4600 next year. That means less money for the unions to buy candidates and ballot measures...less bribes being paid. This is a good thing!
