  • Bakersfield Might Do End Run on Unions vis a vis Pensions

We know that unions own most city councils and Boards of Supervisors.

We know the reason is to give wages, benefits and pensions in exchange for the "support" the unions give the council members.

Now, we know that the pension implosion is causing cities, like Vallejo to file bankruptcy and dozens of other cities, like San Diego, that should file for bankruptcy.

It would be more expensive for the unions to buy whole towns.

Bakersfield is on its way to mandating that pension’s changes be voted by the people, not by the city council.

This is a good thing. How about a ballot measure asking the people if workers need to pay bribes in order to work for government? Bet that would be a winner (except for the corrupt unions)
