We need to get real, a Constitutional Convention endangers Prop. 13 and hence our homes.
"More to the point, as the California Progressives argued a century ago, taxation is the essence of government and the control of taxation is the control of government. Delegates to a constitutional convention will be laying the framework for the workings and control of California's government. Taxation cannot be ignored.
That said, those who want to use a constitutional convention to alter or dismantle Prop. 13 do so at their own risk. Prop. 13 did something revolutionary: For the first time, it gave certainty in taxation to the taxpayer instead of the tax collector."
Arnold and his friends John Perez, Darrell Steinberg, the unions and special interests need to get rid of Prop. 13 if they are going to have more money to spend. Of course these folks never took economic classes. Get rid of Prop. 13 and the value of homes will plummet, property taxes will go up, the poor and middle class will lose their homes--and the goal of Democrats will be reached--only the rich will own homes.
In the meantime the economy of California will collapse overnight, and we will wish for a Great Depression.
