This is a simple story. The City of Los Angeles creates a drug buying program that no one knows about--to save money. So, far, according to government, they have saved a grand total of $100,000.
Then the LA Chamber of Commerce decided to offer a drug program FOR FREE, as well. "The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a new prescription drug discount program that has sparked complaints from a similar city-run effort, drawing allegations that the chamber is misleading residents by copying the city program but offering lower benefits.
The city program, launched in August, goes by the name of LARx, while the chamber's, announced in November, is called Los Angeles Rx.
The firm working for the city, Envision, criticized the chamber for coming up with a program that seems similar yet offers very different benefits.
"We think what they are doing is despicable," said Envision spokesman Sean Morrison. "They are just trying to confuse the consumers and not offer as big a discount as we get."
"Despicable"? Why because people can choose? Because people can use BOTH, to get better prices? Government hates private folks from helping people--without tax dollars--what if the private firm is better than the government program?
What IS despicable is government stealing from the poor than refusing to allow them to buy drugs at the best prices.
