To balance the budget, the Governor and legislature decided to steal money from the injured workers of California. Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner has decided to sue, to stop this theft.
"In announcing the lawsuit, Poizner said a sale of State Fund assets is unconstitutional because its assets must be used solely for providing compensation to injured employees and their dependents. He also said such a move could endanger the funds solvency.
The pilfering of funds used to pay the claims of injured workers to instead help fill the state budget gap is both unconscionable and unconstitutional, Poizner said in a statement announcing the lawsuit."
The legislature knew this was illegal, but still passed a phony budget bill--so the Treasury could borrow $10.5 billion and put us further in debt.
Glad we have at least one adult in Sacramento.
