  • CA: New law aims to reduce how much we drive

For the past two years I have been writing about AB 32 and SB 375, by Steinberg. AB 32 kills jobs and makes it expensive to do business in California. That is why we have high unemployment.

SB 375 makes zoning a State matter, even though the Attorney General, NOW, is the final arbiter of zoning and building permits in several counties. The goal is to create a New York or Chicago in California. High density living, government transportation, no cars, or cars just for the rich.

Now, it is being recommended that unless you are willing to visit Yosemite by government transportation, or visit Grandma in Redding by government transportation, you will be locked in your home.

"California is making early progress toward its goal of reducing the use of motor vehicles, but more creative and aggressive public policies will be necessary to get people to switch from driving to walking, biking and using public transit, according to a new report from the Public Policy Institute of California."

Sorry you will be allowed to use a bicycle or walk to Yosemite or Redding, from Chula Vista.

"The report looks at the early implementation of a new law known as SB 375, which seeks to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases believed to be responsible for global warming. The bill encourages local governments and regional transportation planners to adopt policies that make it easier for Californians to live, work and play without using a car. The California Air Resources Board, which is implementing the law, hopes to reduce the number of vehicle miles traveled per person by 7 percent by 2020 and at least 13 percent by 2035."

Government does not do anything voluntarily--just look at ObamaCare. It is just a short trip, walking, for government, to go from, "encouraging" to mandatory and take away your car.

Totalitarianism has many forms. AB 32 and SB 375, along with Jerry Brown are working hard to force productive people to leave the State. Then the elitists will have a whole State, not just San Fran to play in.
