"Berkeley’s City Council will discuss creating a $20,000 fund to pay for sex-change surgery for city employees.
A resolution calling for the creation of the fund is on the Council’s agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting. David Hodgkins, Berkeley’s director of human resources, submitted the documents.
San Francisco has been paying for these types of operations for a decade. The money doesn’t cover the whole cost of the surgery, which can run to $50,000."
