Is the Payroll Tax Holiday a GOP Trojan Horse?, By Kevin Drum, Mother Jones, 12/10/10

Looks like the GOP did create one permanent tax cut in the Obama agreement to keep the Bush tax cuts. The leftist writer understands that once the workers get to keep a few extra bucks a week they will not want to give it back to government in a year.

"Part of the Obama tax deal is a small, one-year cut in the Social Security tax rate, and a fair number of liberal commenters are afraid that this is nothing more than a Trojan Horse for Republicans. After all, won't they just come back a year from now and start screaming that if the cut is allowed to expire it's a tax increase? Just like they're doing with the Bush tax cuts? And won't Democrats cave? And won't that ruin Social Security's finances, leading to demands for benefit cuts?"

Of course until the Bush cuts are made permanent who will trust government and spend extra money? On these points the GOP did very good.

    2. Conyers, ACLU Claim Obama Is Furthering Bush Power Grab, Military Expansion, Penny Starr, CNSNEWS.com, 12/10/10

How crazy can the Left be?

"House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), echoing others who testified before a subcommittee on Thursday, said both the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations represent an “imperial presidency.” Obama, Conyers said, has broken his promises to shut down Guantanamo, end military operations abroad, and has continued to expand the power of the executive branch."

Maybe his sanity has been manipulated due to the fact that to see his wife he has to visit a prison--she got caught as a corrupt member of the Detroit City Council and sent to the slammer.

    3. As the Ground Shifts, Biden Plays a Bigger Role, By HELENE COOPER, New York Times, 12/11/10

The gaffer himself, Joe "Foot in Mouth" Biden is now leading the battles in Congress for Obama. How low can you go?

"In a basement room at the Capitol, Mr. Biden was trying to convince Democrats that the deal was the best one they were going to get.
Then Representative Anthony Weiner of New York got up and asserted that Mr. Obama was acting like a “negotiator in chief” instead of a “leader” who gets things done.
Mr. Biden erupted. “There’s no goddamned way I’m going to stand here and talk about the president like that,” the vice president said, according to two people in the room.
In the annals of bickering among Democrats, the exchange between Mr. Biden and Mr. Weiner was mild. But it highlights the distance that Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama have traveled since they ran against each other in the 2008 Democratic primaries, a campaign season that Mr. Biden kicked off by saying Mr. Obama was “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
Poor President Obama, he has to have a soft core bigot fighting his fights!
    4. On the Court, Leftist Justice vs. the Rule of Law, Breyer's "living Constitution" is a dead letter.,- by Mike McDaniel, Pajamas Media, 12/13/10

Get real Justice Breyer is not a defender of the U.S. Constitution and in fact prefers the laws of other nations.
"Justice Breyer suggested that the primary job of a Supreme Court Justice is to determine the values of the Founding Fathers. Breyer suggested that his second concern was to examine history, with the majority opinion of historians, perhaps, considered to rule. He did ultimately allow that judges should consider such matters as the the actual text of the Constitution and precedent, but Breyer’s answers to Wallace’s questions revealed his belief that the text and its clear meaning should be ignored in favor of the approach of judges like himself — who should “regard the Constitution as containing unwavering values that must be applied flexibly to ever-changing circumstances.” Justice Breyer suggested that this was a “pragmatic” approach."
Worse his decisions are based on getting into the heads of people dead about 250 years instead of looking at what they wrote. He is a sick man who lied to Congress during his hearings.
    5. Matt Patterson: Union boss: 'How dare you want to keep your money', By: Matt Patterson, Washington Examiner, 12/13/10

I am shocked a union boss, a guy who lives on taking bribes from workers is upset that Obama has agreed to allow workers and productive people to keep a little more of what they earn.
"Richard Trumka, the powerful president of the AFL-CIO (who is profiled, by the way, in an outstanding article by Philip Klein in the December issue of Labor Watch, published by the Capital Research Center) released a statement regarding the tax cut deal that read in part:
"Two years ago, working Americans had high hopes that we would ultimately emerge from the deep, punishing financial debacle with a sharp focus on a fundamentally stronger, fairer and more balanced economy.
"Today, that vision has dimmed. ... The tax cut deal rewards Republican obstructionism by giving the wealthy the tax breaks they demanded. It throws away precious resources needed for investments in jobs and our economy on upper income tax cuts. ..."
This statement is fascinating to parse, so revealing as it is of the true motives of union bosses like Trumka -- and indeed all of the vast armies of the left -- which is this: a deep hatred for accumulated wealth and the persons who have earned it."
