Sacramento County health officials said Wednesday that four of the 12 people associated with St. Mel who reported flu-like symptoms this week have been cleared. They do not have the new swine flu.
Of the 12, only nine were ultimately tested. Results for the remaining five are pending.
Three students at the Fair Oaks private school, and a health-care worker, have tested positive for the new strain of swine flu that has public health specialists worldwide on alert.
Sacramento health officials also said that unless new cases crop up from the St. Mel population, that school's reopening is tentatively set for Monday, a full week after an e-mail from the principal shut down the Catholic school.
