That billboard (in the middle, above) is in several locations here in L.A., as well. It's part of an advertising program that is (obviously) intended to get low income folks to stop raising obese, unhealthy kids. Usually, the pictures portray a newly enlightened single mother boldly asserting that she has the power to restrict time spent in front of the TV and the ability to control what type of after school snacks are kept in the fridge.

From what I can tell, it's not working. There's still a lot of little porky bastards waddling their way around SoCal.

Hell, I'll take you one further. I'd suggest to you that many people constituting the intended audience for that billboard belong in Latin America.

The SAME nonsense has been going on HERE in Dallas, TX. My legal resident Brazilian friend HATES foreign-language advertising. THIS is the United States, NOT Latin America, she carps with regard to Spanish-only ads. It's NOT fair to Americans and immigrants who DON'T know Spanish, she acidly yet accurately notes.
