  • Why did Feds claim Kindle violates civil rights?

Find a liberal and you will find a problem. The world is against them. Fail to hire them and it is because they are a woman, a black, a Hispanic, someone with a disability, come from the wrong nation or the wrong side of the moon.

Cigarettes are bad for you, but a joint means revenues for government to spend on stop smoking campaigns. Government schools must allow War protests, but not allow kids wearing American flag T-shirts on the 5th of May.

Technology is really a problem for them. In schools that do not have the money for new $100 textbooks, per class, per child, the Kindle (a device like a computer that allows you to read a book without killing a tree) is being used. Government schools in Riverside County and elsewhere are getting rid of dead tree books and instead inconveniencing electrons via the use of the Kindle.

"Did you know the Justice Department threatened several universities with legal action because they took part in an experimental program to allow students to use the Amazon Kindle for textbooks?

Last year, the schools -- among them Princeton, Arizona State and Case Western Reserve -- wanted to know if e-book readers would be more convenient and less costly than traditional textbooks. The environmentally conscious educators also wanted to reduce the huge amount of paper students use to print files from their laptops.

It seemed like a promising idea until the universities got a letter from the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, now under an aggressive new chief, Thomas Perez, telling them they were under investigation for possible violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act."

Obama prefers killing trees, wasting money on textbooks that are replaced every year. Instead of using technology Obama has become an education Luddite. We can save money and provide better education for most or we can keep education in the 19th century. Wonder if he still has a crank for his car?
