  • Kern County: $$ for "Arts" Not Cops?

There are folks in Kern County that believe that the "arts" are more important than public safety.

"Kern County's budget storm threatens donations to non-profit groups that support arts and culture in Kern County, and arts supporters have responded with their own storm of e-mails and phone calls.

Three supervisors agreed Tuesday, in concept, that they should eliminate a $83,000 donation to the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, a $62,000 gift to the Arts Council of Kern and the $27,000 they planned to give to the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Those cuts have not yet been made.

But with three of the five supervisors behind them, it is likely that money will diminish or disappear."

Get rid of ALL the money for the "arts"--that is not a role of government. I bet there are millions more Kern County--and your County spends--that is wasteful, while cutting public safety.

    Where are our priorities?
