  • Government: More Toys, Bigger Deficits, More Harm to Middle Class

San Fran and the surrounding counties are pushing electric vehicles for all. There are proposals to add recharging stations in lots of places. "Coulomb Technologies, which has installed charging stations in front of San Francisco City Hall, around the City Hall in San Jose and elsewhere, has proposed installing charging infrastructure in California by the end of this year, along U.S. Highways 99 and 101, and Interstate 5 for extended-range EVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) as well as all-electric vehicles."

And the cars can go a long distance. "He said Tesla aims to mass-market electric vehicles by making them affordable. Tesla's Roadster and Model S can go 244 and 300 miles per charge, respectively, and can be fully recharged in as little as 3 1/2 hours from a conventional household outlet. The Model S will begin production in 2011."

So, you drive from LA to Sacramento and somewhere north of Fresno on the 5 Freeway, you will need to be recharged. That can take as little as 3.5 hours--yeah sure--this is the government in action. Oh, the cost of the cars? TESLA "might" get the cost down to $50,000--today each car is $100,000. No one subsidized the computer industry when it got started.

Another effort to harm the families and businesses of California--what a waste of money--but it makes the radicals of the Bay Area feel good.
