  • Internet Isn?t Killing Papers, We Are--The Media is Committing Suicide

Who killed the newspapers? It is the newspapers committing suicide. "Blame fraudulent circulation numbers and editorial salaries that are still inflated by stock options to nonexistent profits on the dot-com era for the demise of the news industry, but whatever you do, dont get deluded into thinking newspapers are going out of print because of free Web sites. As it turns out, news has always been free."

Have the newspapers been corrupt? "Theres another issue I touched on above as well, and that is fraudulent circulation numbers. Newspapers have had to refund advertisers ad dollars in the millions to compensate for having cheated their customers with inflated circulation numbers. In addition to the direct cost, theres been an indirect cost in terms of trust and loyalty. Advertisers like having an independent means of verifying the impact of their ads.

It isnt free content thats sinking newspapers; its the dishonesty of the publishers and the inflated salaries of the content producers that are to blame."

And this does not even get into the discussion of the media supporting illegal aliens, demanding higher taxes, promoting corrupt unions and advancing policies that have killed the economy. Policies like the canard of the day, Global Warming. Why buy a paper the believes you are not taxed enough, that believe unions not teachers should control the classroom and demands you put toxic waste in your children's bedroom via a poorly created light bulb that includes toxic mercury.

This writer, a media veteran hits a home run. Newspapers have committed suicide.
