The Secretary of State’s office has historically taken the position that the use ofcameras or video equipment at polling places is prohibited. Although there has beenrecent media coverage surrounding the use of cameras at polling places and AB 1494regarding ballot “selfies” has been signed into law, our guidance will remain unchangeduntil January 1, 2017, when the new law goes into effect.
