  • Teacher layoff notices may stick in San Francisco Unified School District

Teachers should look at their unions for cause of their impending layoffs.

"As a result, SFUSD Superintendent Carlos Garcia is expected to issue layoff notices to 172 teachers, 139 administrators and 108 aides Tuesday.

If the tax extensions are not approved — or do not make it on the ballot — San Francisco Unified stands to lose an additional $27 million in funding, according to Deputy Superintendent of Finance Myong Leigh. Those cuts are on top of the $113 million the district lost for this school year and next.

Board of Education President Hydra Mendoza said it will be difficult telling teachers they could lose their jobs without knowing the district’s exact budget deficit."

Unions using money forcibly taken from teachers and other government workers is why California has high taxes, bad policies, illegal aliens protected, AB 32 killing jobs and why the pension system is collapsing. They have the ability to stop it.

All the teachers have to do, if they really want to save their jobs is to end the union monopoly. Tell the union to stop stealing from them.

Until they do, teachers, cops and other will lose their jobs--they are the reason and they can save their jobs--if they really wanted to. Don't need more taxes, need an honest government protecting workers from extortionists.
