The few days after the cuts were first announced, some of the kids in the LAUSD were taken out of class, given signs, and were paraded in front of cameras as if to plead for their education.

California has among, if not the, worst education rate in America.

Something different needs to be done, and it doesn't involve money.

Get rid of the social engineering. Teach kids what they really need to know and leave politics out of it.

Get rid of the "cultural diversity" crap. It distracts from learning math, English composition, and history. Why is a kid pushed into a selective interpretation of "Mexican" culture? Shouldn't happen in America.

Get rid of the "dual immersion" classes. Teach the kids who don't know the language of this country.

It seems as though there is a concerted effort in the school systems to systematically remove everything our country was, including the things which made it successful, and make it into something else.

I say get remake the entire education system, and get rid of those so called educators who don't want to get on board with genuine reform.

Unions are chiefly concerned about the best interests of their members, not the best interests of the customers their members service.

And when they openly support the activities and presence of illegal aliens (which has become a trend in the last 7 or 8 years), they're not even demonstrating the former.

There's some business managers of various locals who are a lot more concerned about themselves than they are members, employers, or customers. The self interest politics of balancing greed and self preservation.

Happens everywhere, including management fleecing stockholders and other investors. And who might even attempt bribing Union leadership into selling their Union members down the river.

How about that personal financial adviser. He always has a plan to make money for himself. You are a valued customer until the nanosecond you finish signing the contract, and you come in second place at the gravy train.

Then again, the politician who tells everyone what they want to hear, does none of it (never intended to) and has the balls to give himself a raise?

I conversed with a friend yesterday who works in a school. The big money to schools comes in through the English Language Learners program. If a parent states on the form that they are a Spanish speaking household, the kid is automatically enrolled for free meals and other subsidized freebies. Then, even if the kid is fluent in English, he is taken away from the class daily for private one on one tutoring and other benefits. She told me some other things I disremember, I'll have to ask her again. ELL is a scam.

The above can potentially involve hundreds of kids in a school. She gave a number, but I don't remember.

The dual immersion is a non productive scam as well.

It's like a bid for a government contract which is bid for less than wages. People who bid those contracts look for problems which can be converted to cash. There will always be RFI's and change orders (KA-CHING!!!), and there are always other ways to pencil whip the paper work to maximize monetary extraction from the customer. Sometimes out right fraud is resorted to.

In this case, the customer is the state of California, and the schools are treating the business as a cost plus cash cow.

What needs to be done is to go down to the school, dig through the paper work, and walk through the classrooms to see what's really going on on campus.

It has to be surprise visits, and some heads need to roll.

Here is an interesting view by Gail Cloud, who serves on the Board of Education in Riverside, Ca.

It has to do with the Harvey Milk nonsense, but it has a good quote concerning social politics from Sacramento interfering with education.

              Focus on academics

We don't need to honor Harvey Milk by designating a day of celebration.

The bill encourages "all public schools and educational institutions" to observe this day and "conduct exercises" remembering and recognizing the life of Harvey Milk. Public schools are becoming the epicenter of American political polarization and that detracts from our main focus -- student learning. We'd be much better off if politicians would allow schools to focus on academics and leave social change to the parents.

For respect to Gayle Cloud, this is her opinion rendered in the Riverside County Press Enterprise concerning education, and the re-posting of it here does not reflect an endorsement of any kind on her part to any organization.
