  • San Fran Government School Needs Private $$ to Stay Open

San Fran is broke. This city is dead broke. Lowell High School is a nationally famous, quality government school. Yet the SF folks are so broke that this great school would close were it not for private donations.

Here is an idea. Privatize the school, free it from corrupt unions and hack politicians. Let it really thrive.

"Over the past few years, the San Francisco Unified School District has been unable to pay for all of the school’s operating expenses. To meet the shortfall, alumni, parents and students have stepped in with more than $1 million in private donations.

The fund raising success is on one level inspiring; the amount raised would make many colleges envious. But at the same time, it raises troubling questions about society’s commitment to excellence in public schools."

Why should the public fund a school where the employees must pay bribes and work for the unions, not the students?
